Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and our partners in the Safer Chemicals Healthy Families coalition are leading an initiative to reform the nation’s chemical safety law. Most of the 80,000 chemicals used in everyday products in the U.S. have never been tested.

Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, is poised to announce ambitious goals developed in consultation with EDF to get chemicals of concern out of products on its shelves.

Wegmans Food Markets, one of the country’s most innovative food retailers, and Environmental Defense, a leading national environmental advocacy organization, has unveiled a first-of-its-kind purchasing policy for farmed shrimp.

The policy, which includes comprehensive and rigorous health and environmental standards, enables retailers and producers to address health and environmental concerns in a measurable and significant way. The policy will set a new bar for the seafood industry and U.S. retailers.
