Statement of Dr. Richard Denison<\/a>, Lead Senior Scientist at\u00a0Environmental Defense Fund\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cEPA\u2019s statement today<\/a>\u00a0regarding its inclusion of formaldehyde on the list of chemicals under consideration for prioritization for risk evaluation under TSCA leaves many questions unanswered.<\/p>\n

EPA states that\u00a0\u2018the work done for IRIS will\u00a0inform the TSCA process.\u2019 Such consideration is already required by law.<\/p>\n

What is absolutely essential is that the IRIS program be able to complete its assessment of formaldehyde, which has been suppressed for the last year and a half by conflicted EPA political appointees.\u00a0 Then EPA\u2019s TSCA office, just like every other EPA office, can and should rely on it to make regulatory decisions.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s time that political interference in the agency\u2019s science stop.\u201d<\/p>\n
