ACC on Safe Chemicals Act of 2011: If you can’t say anything nice …

Richard Denison, Ph.D., is a Senior Scientist.

The Consumer Specialty Products Association found some nice things to say about it.  DuPont did too.  Even the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association acknowledged some improvements.

And the American Chemistry Council?

Maybe they’re just slow readers over there, but ACC didn’t manage to find one good thing to say about the 2011 version of the Safe Chemicals Act (S. 847), introduced yesterday – a bill that by my count includes more than a dozen significant changes responsive to concerns raised by ACC and other industry players in the debate over reform of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).

Seems to me that ACC’s members really ought to be asking themselves whether their trade association is working in their best interests.
