The <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">impacts also stretched far beyond North Carolina, affecting communities throughout the southeastern U.S., demonstrating the growing need to prepare for increasingly severe storms. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">In the wake of Hurricane Helene, FEMA introduced a <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">$2.1 billion relief package<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> to support families and businesses affected. Hurricane Florence\u2019s record-breaking rainfall in 2018 drove home the importance of proactive measures and better coordination between government agencies.
