The UN has declared <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.un.org\/en\/story\/2022\/07\/1123482\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">access to clean air a human right<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, but more than 500 million people in the LAC region breathe air that exceeds the World Health Organization\u2019s guidelines for pollutants like nitrogen dioxide, fine particle pollution and ground-level ozone.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">What\u2019s next:<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> A paper to be published in February highlights priorities for integrated air quality management in 33 LAC countries.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">EDF and UNEP <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.edf.org\/media\/new-partnership-improve-air-quality-advance-global-health-and-climate-goals-latin-american\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">are collaborating<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> to develop clean air solutions in LAC. In April, EDF, UNEP and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ccacoalition.org\/en\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Climate &amp; Clean Air Coalition<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> will co-host a workshop in Bogot\u00e1 on actions to reduce <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.edf.org\/global-clean-air\/climate\/edf-joins-global-organizations-calling-on-unfccc-to-strengthen-action-on-short-lived-climate-pollutants-to-achieve-climate-goals\/\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">short-lived climate pollutants that harm people\u2019s health and warm our planet.<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Later this year, EDF will select 10 projects to provide with technical assistance and will facilitate a resource mobilization effort to support their implementation.
