{"id":23402,"date":"2023-08-01T15:58:16","date_gmt":"2023-08-01T20:58:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.edf.org\/climate411\/?p=23402"},"modified":"2023-08-15T12:13:00","modified_gmt":"2023-08-15T17:13:00","slug":"new-data-shows-arizona-ev-jobs-and-investments-are-soaring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.edf.org\/climate411\/2023\/08\/01\/new-data-shows-arizona-ev-jobs-and-investments-are-soaring\/","title":{"rendered":"New data shows Arizona EV jobs and investments Are soaring"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>This post was written by EDF\u2019s Ellen Robo <\/em><\/p>\n<p>One year ago this month, the Inflation Reduction Act put the pedal to the metal for investments in electric vehicle manufacturing \u2013 and it shows no sign of letting up.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, U.S. EV investments are still growing at a breakneck pace.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In March, EDF and WSP USA released a report, <a href=\"https:\/\/nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fblogs.edf.org%2Fclimate411%2Ffiles%2F2023%2F03%2FState-Electric-Vehicle-Policy-Landscape.pdf&amp;data=05%7C01%7Csstein%40edf.org%7C8740f059209e483508cb08db271cc845%7Cfe4574edbcfd4bf0bde843713c3f434f%7C0%7C0%7C638146776784811861%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=dEgwPWK7x5W57RobEObTujAgJam7ZNJkgbc%2BYa2kQiw%3D&amp;reserved=0\">U.S. Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Investments and Jobs: Characterizing the Impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act after 6 Months<\/a>. It found that more than $120 billion in investments and 143,000 new U.S. jobs had been announced in the last eight years \u2013 and more than 40% of those announcements happened since passage of the Inflation Reduction Act.<\/p>\n<p>We are now working on an update of that report, and we can share preliminary numbers for the state of Arizona.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what we found:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In our last report, in March, Arizona had $3.7 billion in announced EV manufacturing investments and 7,600 associated new jobs.<\/li>\n<li>Now, Arizona has an estimated $10.9 billion in investments and 11,500 associated direct jobs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That means announced EV investments in the state have <em>almost tripled<\/em> in the last six months alone.<\/p>\n<p>We expect Arizona won\u2019t be alone in seeing huge job growth and investment from the Inflation Reduction Act.
