{"id":2098,"date":"2010-05-27T10:11:19","date_gmt":"2010-05-27T15:11:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.edf.org\/climate411\/?p=2098"},"modified":"2026-03-14T12:41:28","modified_gmt":"2026-03-14T17:41:28","slug":"yesterdays-blog-highlights-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.edf.org\/climate411\/2010\/05\/27\/yesterdays-blog-highlights-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Yesterday&#8217;s blog highlights \u2013\u00a0May 27, 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Grist<\/em> asks \u201cIn wake of Gulf spill, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.grist.org\/article\/2010-05-24-in-wake-of-gulf-spill-this-should-be-the-summer-of-energy-reform\/\">should this be the summer of energy reform<\/a>?\u201d Their answer, of course, is yes.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIs there any good reason why President Obama, Congress, and the nation\u00a0<em>shouldn&#8217;t<\/em> spend the summer figuring out an energy-reform plan that would get us started in replacing oil and coal with clean, sustainable energy sources?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On <em>triplepundit<\/em>, a new poll shows that<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cmore than <a href=\"http:\/\/www.triplepundit.com\/2010\/05\/record-number-of-businesses-support-climate-change-legislation\/\">6,000 American businesses support clean energy and climate legislation<\/a>, including nearly a quarter of the Fortune 100.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>Climate Progress<\/em> highlights \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldwildlife.org\/climate\/Publications\/WWFBinaryitem16090.pdf\">a new WWF report<\/a> which<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/climateprogress.org\/2010\/05\/25\/study-with-27-trillion-global-market-at-stake-its-time-for-the-u-s-to-lead-in-clean-technology\/\">reveals the potential for U.S. market share in clean technology deployment<\/a> in the developing world\u2026.The report finds that\u00a0if the U.S. is able to capture a 14% market share of this potential clean tech export market\u2014on par with our current market share in environmental goods and services in developing countries\u2014280,000-850,000 new, long-term American jobs would result.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>E2 <\/em>has <a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/blogs\/e2-wire\/677-e2-wire\/99749-lieberman-climate-bill-to-floor-in-mid-summer\">Senator Lieberman optimistic about the chances of the climate bill<\/a>. He said<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI hope that sometime in June we&#8217;re going to be able to prove to Sen.
