In the statement they say:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOur optimism is bolstered because there is a growing and unprecedented bi-partisan coalition from the business, national security, faith and environmental communities that supports our legislation and is energized to work hard and get it passed.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On <em>The New York Times<\/em> <em>Room for Debate<\/em> blog, key thought leaders and journalists covering climate debate whether <a href=\"http:\/\/roomfordebate.blogs.nytimes.com\/2010\/05\/09\/does-the-climate-bill-have-a-chance\/\">the climate bill actually has a chance at passage<\/a> this year. There is a fair amount of optimism in the crowd.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cEnvironmental disasters have historically served as the inspiration for landmark legislation.\u201d Kate Shepard of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/motherjones.com\/\">Mother Jones.org<\/a><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201c<\/em>I am optimistic about decarbonization. Despite conventional wisdom to the contrary, reducing emissions will be relatively fast and inexpensive.
