The only meaningful response to this man-made disaster is a man-made energy bill that would finally put in place an American clean-energy infrastructure that would set our country on a real, long-term path to ending our addiction to oil.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>The New Republic<\/em> showcases <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eia.doe.gov\/oiaf\/environment\/emissions\/carbon\/index.html\">a new report<\/a> by the Energy Information Administration which shows that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tnr.com\/blog\/the-vine\/emissions-are-already-plummeting-so-why-not-stronger-bill\">CO2 emissions in the United States are down 10%<\/a> from 2005 levels.<\/p>\n<p>On <em>E2<\/em>, Kerry and Lieberman say they are set to <a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/blogs\/e2-wire\/677-e2-wire\/96679-kerry-lieberman-to-roll-out-climate-bill-may-12\">unveil the climate bill on Wednesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Financial Times<\/em> poses the question that is in the back of everyone\u2019s minds:\u00a0 \u201cIf we can fix the ozone layer, <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ft.com\/energy-source\/2010\/05\/07\/if-we-can-fix-the-ozone-layer-why-do-we-struggle-in-tackling-climate-change\/\">why do we struggle in tackling climate change<\/a>?\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Climate Progress highlights Tom Friedman\u2019s New York Times column \u201cNo Fooling Mother Nature\u201d where Tom describes how \u201cThere is only one meaningful response to the horrific oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and that is for America to stop messing around when it comes to designing its energy and environmental future.
