We often experiment with new ideas to find the ways that  work. However, this time I had a chance to do something truly  off-the-wall.<\/p>\n<p>I was asked to make a video  with the coalition <a title=\"http:\/\/www.cleanenergyworks.us\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cleanenergyworks.us\/\">Clean Energy Works<\/a> that explains cap and trade in a way  that non-economists could understand, i.e., in English.\u00a0 (And with clever  animation.)<\/p>\n<p>What were they thinking?<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"601\" height=\"338\"><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=8847746&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=0&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;color=00ADEF&amp;fullscreen=1\" \/><embed src=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=8847746&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=0&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;color=00ADEF&amp;fullscreen=1\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" width=\"601\" height=\"338\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>Maybe the idea was just crazy  enough to work. Here are a couple of reactions so far:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a title=\"http:\/\/daily.sightline.org\/daily_score\/archive\/2010\/01\/21\/the-facts-of-cap-and-trade\" href=\"http:\/\/daily.sightline.org\/daily_score\/archive\/2010\/01\/21\/the-facts-of-cap-and-trade\">Sightline Daily<\/a> calls it \u201cthoughtful and  friendly\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Treehugger said it&#8217;s a \u201c<a title=\"http:\/\/www.treehugger.com\/files\/2010\/01\/facts-cap-trade-video.php\" href=\"http:\/\/www.treehugger.com\/files\/2010\/01\/facts-cap-trade-video.php\">brief but relatively thorough  explanation<\/a>\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Check it out, let us know  what you think, and spread the word.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EDF is known for unconventional tactics.
