Victory in Committee. Now on to the House.

As EDF's National Climate Campaign Director Steve Cochran points out, last week's passage of the Waxman-Markey American Clean Energy and Security Act was a huge victory and sets the stage for action in the full House and Senate this year.

A pyrrhic victory if there ever was one as the bill is empty posturing with a negative albatross already hanging on it due to Sec. Chu's pushing the Clean Coal fraud already sailing along with no noise from EDF or other environmental groups. Readers should check my comment #2 on the NYTimes GreenInc Blog, May 22 on its write-up about the useless climate bill. Mr Cochran; It is a hell of a bad week for climate as no one understands the energy overload that will continue even if you get 75% reductions in emissions. The other 25% will be adding to the GHG overload and all the energy released will be adding without control to its overload so climate will continue to worsen. I wonder if anyone at EDF has read Dr. E. Chaisson's piece "The Heat to Come" in New Scientist online April 6. Environment section. Dr. J. Singmaster

I wonder if anyone at EDF has any idea about the ever-expanding messes of organic wastes and sewage solids as being reemitters of GHGs by natural biodegrading processes. I call on readers here to ask EDF what EDF staffers think happens with those messes. Are Sam Parry and Steve Cochran too scientifically illiterate to explain what happens with those messes in the environment and how we can stop them from biodegrading to give off GHGs needlessly? Again I wonder if anyone at EDF has read Dr. E. Chaisson's piece. If readers want to get more aware, they can google James Singmaster to read in more detail about curbing the unneeded reemitting of GHGs from messes of organic wastes and sewage solids as we presently handle them Dr. J. Singmaster

GEOENGINEERING….
When will it go public? I live around Detroit. They have NO clue about the real climate/environmental issues.

http://www.storyofstuff.com

Extraction, production, distribution, marketing, CONSUMPTION, Recycling/or not are CRITICAL.

We Americans and the world at large needs to be educated. We need an environmental curriculum from Elementary thru Middle thru High school thru College to Corporate and Community.

We are low intellect and not connected to our scientific/natural reality.

Thanks!

Peter

As much as I've backed many of your policies in the past, the Waxman-Markey bill is just wrong (not to mention all of the pork tagged on to it – business as usual in Washington). I came across a very intelligently researched article in this month's Esquire, that your supporters of this bill should read – does not deny global warming in any way, but makes a strong argument against this legislation and how things will probably be worse if passed – please read!!!!
