Recommended Reading: Good Op-Ed About Copenhagen

If you’re following the Copenhagen climate talks and you’re looking for some interesting reading, we recommend Paul Krugman’s latest op-ed in the New York Times, “An Affordable Truth“. In Krugman’s words:

If things go well in Copenhagen, the usual suspects will go wild. We’ll hear cries … that climate-change policies will destroy jobs and growth.  The truth, however, is that cutting greenhouse gas emissions is affordable as well as essential.

How many CO2 emissions are coming from Copenhagen right now with 1200 Limo’s and 140 private jets flown in? If Liberals would stop exhaling there would be less CO2 emmissions. What about this Huge Blizzard coming in the midwest? Is this from global warming. Gore left office with half a million and now with bogus global warming fanatics funding him, he is worth a half a billion. The earth goes through cycles people, read your history, we are entering an ice age, our government made that announcement back in the 70’s, don’t believe the hype. They needed limo’s with heaters in Copenhagen because it is freezing there, due to global warming I guess, LOL.

Revolutionary change is difficult and necessary. This particular change, the change to a non-carbon economy, is necessary to allow the planet to better support the web of life it has so wondrously created and nurtured. The science is unequivocal. The politics of anti-science obstructionism, protectionism, fear of big government, etc. are small and, in the end, irrelevant. This change is not a choice, but a necessity and it will happen with the dedication of many, many good and informed people from around the world. Like any life form, our society will evolve.

We should all be thrilled, awed and humbled that we are living at a time when human civilization will choose to take a huge turn away from the fossil fuels that brought about the modern industrial society we have today to a better, cleaner, more efficient future. Like the adoption of agriculture, the invention of the printing press and the advent of the steam engine, this is a turning point in human history. Embrace the change, embrace the possibilities we can bring about – clean, healthy air, abundant non-polluting energy, preserves of healthy ecosystems that all mankind protects, like the rain forests that we all benefit from whenever we breathe.

There have always been a large number of people fearful of change, invested in the past and closed to the possibility that change is happening, must happen and should happen. These people are alive and well and making lots of noise today. They whine about local climates being cooler than normal this week, who among climate advocates is using a private jet therefore being hypocritical, how a handful of scandalous email messages now must debunk decades of solid science, which bill is benefiting which senator and so on. Small stuff, irrelevant. The revolutionary change in our energy structure and civilization will go forward in any case.
